CHANEL SS15 AT PARIS FASHION WEEK

by - 3:58 PM

I was going to include Chanel in my collective PFW post but after seeing the extravagant show Karl Lagerfeld pulled off once again, I needed to dedicate an entire post to it. With 82 looks overall, this show was incredible to begin with. The looks themselves perfectly encapsulate the Chanel woman: endless versions of the signature tweed suit, silk florals which were hand painted by Lagerfeld himself, box-pleated skirts, and elaborate cocktail dresses only covers a handful of the designs. The backdrop was equally as extravagant: an ordinary looking Parisian street erected inside of the Grand Palais. So realistic looking that attendees had to do a double take, the "Boulevard Chanel" even had puddles on its sidewalks.
For the finale, Lagerfeld led a mock protest. The models came out bearing signs that had phrases like, "Make Fashion Not War," "Free Freedom," "Tweed is better than Tweet," "Ladies First," "Be Your Own Stylist," and my personal favorite, "Boys Should Get Pregnant, Too." To top it off, Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bündchen had quilted Chanel megaphones shouting, "What do we want?! When do we want it?!" Lagerfeld always puts on an incredible show to emphasize his beautiful designs and this might have been his best yet.

Between New York, London, Milan, and Paris Chanel was definitely my favorite show. Lagerfeld knows how to put on a spectacle and this was nothing short of my expectations. This show will be another to go down in Chanel's incredible history. Stay tuned for a collective post with the rest of my favorites from PFW! To see the entire Chanel SS15 collection, click here.
